Recently, I had an conversation with Jim McBride (DOM for Delaware) regarding Delaware campus ministry and his transition from DOM. He described briefly the change he has undergone since his heart attack. In a nut shell, prior to the heart attack he was not taking care of himself. Nutrition, exercise, rest, growth, etc were all taking a backseat to ministering to others. The stress and nutrition caught up with him. Jim said this is the very thing Bruce from the eastern shore died of. He shared that he hopes part of the next phase of ministry will be alerting and helping ministers.

So, perhaps look at your schedule again and do not by pass planned exercise. Look at your menu again and get something a little lighter. Look at your Bible again and savor the sovereignty of God. We just might be able to stop slowly killing ourselves.

Hey fellow peeps…anyone read any good books lately? Two standouts for me have been the following:

1) Christian – The Return of The Prodigal Son by Nouwen…anything Nouwen rocks

2) Secular – Crucial Confrontations…this book is filled with substance and hits at the core of a crucial part of working with other people and dealing with conflict. In my opinion a must read for everyone in ministry except most monks.

There has been discussion as to the impact of the recent Twilight book series on Christian girls.  I’m halfway through the first one, so I feel that my opinion is limited.  Are any of your students reading the books and if so, what are their thoughts on the books?

Looking forward to a great retreat this weekend. Jeff Iorg’s book, “Is God Calling Me?”, will be a great resource for students to discover what God is saying to them. See you at North Bay!
